Vocals: Dr. Ravi Ramaswamy

Ravi began learning Carnatic vocal music at the age of 10, and continued to train under several gurus, including Smt. Rama Parthasarthi and Smt. Rajalakshmi Pichumani, in Pune. He has given several solo performances in Pune and Bangalore, prior to moving to the US to complete his medical training. He obtained a Sangeetha Visharadh from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai. Ravi currently practices and teaches Geriatric Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and lives in Manhattan with wife Lalitha and daughters Ritika and Nihira.

Veena: Ms. Vijaya Krishnamurthy

Vijaya started taking lessons in Veena at the age of ten from the late Ganakala Bhushan Raja Rao, and later Sri H.S. Krishnamurthy. She is very grateful to her parents for encouraging and supporting her music studies. Vijaya studied Electrical Engineering in Bangalore, and Computer Science after moving to the United States. While living in Maryland, she trained in vocal music under late Sri Raju Sounderajan. Vijaya works as a Program Manager in Manhattan. She likes spending time with friends and family, an avid marathoner and enjoys living in New York City.

Tabla: Mr. Denis Petrov

Denis has been playing a variety of musical instruments since the age 10, when his grandfather taught him to play mandolin. Later he picked up guitar, bass, drums and played in several rock bands. While studying Electrical Engineering at a college in Moscow he received an upright piano as a gift from his parents, and took some lessons. After moving to the United States, he has been mostly playing piano and synthesizers. After being introduced to Indian Carnatic music, he began picking up tunes and rhythms, and has been accompanying Vijaya on electronic tabla. Denis works as a software engineer in Manhattan. He spends his spare time on tinkering with electronics and analog audio, running, cooking and photography.
